My Story – Laura Surfield (Laura Jean)
After having trained and studied portrait photography in the early 90’s, I freelanced for various companies throughout Australia, which took me from photographer to team leader and eventually to training and operations manager for over 100 contractors.
I have set up portrait photography companies in both the UK and Australia, and after such an amazing journey, decided in 2003 that it was time to go it alone.
Laura Jean Photography has given me the freedom of direction that I desired, allowing me to retrain contractors in a more relaxed style of portraiture and to broaden our horizons! We immediately introduced new posing and backdrops, and in 2005 we welcomed the Outdoor Portraiture option as a fresh alternative for schools and families.
Whether you are looking for
kindergarten/childcare/preschool/organisation family portrait fundraising or
annual kindergarten/childcare/preschool class photos
we have a service with a smile for you.

My Team – Laura Jean Photography
All my wonderful contractors are professionals in every way – after all, they are running their own business!
There are many portrait photographers… but to have that special nature to be able work with children is of utmost importance. And of course you want great portraits – we will deliver!
Our team of professional contractors range in portraiture experience from 2 to 17 years. We are committed to satisfying our customers and look forward to the opportunity to meet with you in the future. Feel free to request your favourite photographer - please go to our enquiry page to contact us.

Laura Jean is Going Greener
We are already a very environmentally conscious team (I am a huge greenie), but it is time to get stricter and show the way!
My goals this year are to:
- Become as paperless as possible
- Email information to you, rather than send brochures
- Use the services of environmentally conscious businesses
- Raise awareness to these businesses
- Team Laura Jean in Clean Up Australia Day!
We will continue to:
- Use both sides of all office paper
- Recycle all paper, boxes and containers
- Turn off electrical appliances at the wall if not in use
- Support wildlife organisations with regular donations
And I shall keep away from Palm Oil (saturated fat - labelled vegetable oil) in my groceries and fuel, until it becomes sustainable - to help get the adorable Orangutan off the critically endangered list!
